Tempest Cabaret

We bought this cabinet empty. The only things it had going for it were:
A complete harness
Marquee
Control Panel including Spinner (missing large buttons)
The cabinet was in really nice shape - especially the marquee and CPO
Step 1: Find a Tempest PCB and Audio Regulator II. We bought these from Rob Rolleri. Rob has a bunch of stuff. Ask him if you don't see it on his website. We also removed the broken coin door. It was broken in half horizontally. We cleaned out the dirt as well.
Step 2: Find a power supply and transformer. We bought this one from Omar Vega.

Step 3: Wire in the Power supply and test it out. The marquee light works! |

Step 7: Paint the coin door and wire it up for
this game. We also got a Test switch and volume control bracket from Bob Roberts.

Step 8: (Flash picture) Install the coin door. Hook up all the wiring. Install the new smoked monitor glass. Cut down a metal marquee strip from a full sized game and added new holes to match the cabinet. Found the correct machine screws to hold the glass in place with the strip. The monitor was mirrored horizontally. Everything was a mirror image. It turns out there was a jumper between X OUT and X INV on the edge connector. Cutting this jumper allowed the game to play correctly. We cleaned up the control panel with Novus #2. It looks really nice now. |

How about some of the SUPER ZAPPER? Dawn just happened to catch this shot when the grid was changing colors. |
