Space Duel
04/03/00

We bought this game mainly for the monitor - to be able to finish off the Tempest. This game has a nice, fully working WG color vector monitor.

We have 3 WG Color Vector monitors that needed to be repaired, so we figured this would make a good test harness for those monitors. A better fate for the limited life of this cabinet than for the cabaret Tempest.

Home Made Cabinet Step 1: Break open this cabinet and remove the monitor and one of the speakers. The only way to get into this cabinet was to remove the paneling from the front, back, and top. There was no door.

The wooden frame around the monitor have to be removed to get it out - it appears as if the cabinet was built around the monitor.

Note the Missile Command monitor glass (Plexiglas).

insides A shot of the underside of the cabinet. Note that there is only part of the bottom. Yes, this is the way it was when we got it and probably most of it's life. Notice the speakers up under the control panel?

project 2 A shot of what the inside of the cabinet looked like once Mike removed the paneling from the front of the cabinet. There are three speakers. Two 6x9's and one 4x4.

Space Duel Cabinet Here is the Space Duel cabinet we found. It needed a little cleaning up, but otherwise looks pretty good. We also bought a marquee on EBay.
