Williams MultiGame Defender Control Panel Installation Instructions

Because we don't sell all of the joysticks and buttons for these panels, some assembly is required. Here are directions for installing the control panel parts onto the Defender Control panels.

This is how the panels are shipped. A piece of wood,  a piece of plexiglas, and several pieces of hardware. The edges are painted black to match a Defender cabinet and to match up with the edges of the overlay.

First, trace the dust cover circles on the top of the plexiglass protective covering with a marker so they can be seen from the bottom side...

Next, set the wood part aside, flip over the plexiglas, and remove  the blue protective covering from the bottom side...

Next, prepare the plexiglass and panel to be joined with contact cement...

Rough up the bottom of the plexiglass with sandpaper (then dust it off)...

Next, cover the bottom of the plexiglas and top of the wood (except where the joystick dust covers go - inside the circles) with contact adhesive and let it dry per your adhesive instructions...

Next, put the joystick dust covers into their slots on the wood panel, flip the plexiglas over, carefully align the holes,  and stick the plexiglas to the wood...

BE CAREFUL!

Once the contact adhesive touches itself, it is stuck for good.

Next, remove the protective covering from the top of the plexiglas...

Next, apply the overlay directly to the plexiglas, trimming excess overlay from the top of the notch...

Next, apply the T-molding to the front of the panel using a rubber mallet...

Next, move the control panel latches from your Defender panel and install them on the new panel with wood screws. We recommend drilling pilot holes for the screws.

This picture shows the joysticks and buttons installed. The 8 provided machine screws screw easily into the T-nuts that run through the panel. At the time of this picture, we were waiting on the button switches to arrive in the mail.

Here are more pictures of the panels at various stages of development...

Just the bare wood, drilled...

A test fit of the CPO...

Next, the joystick dust covers routed out and the T-nuts and joystick bases installed (test fit)...

Next, the plexiglass was cut to match the CP and the front of the panel was notched...

The blue color is the protective layers on the top and bottom of the Plexiglas. Note the dust cover notches where the sticks mount.
